Default transmission problem maybe?

I drive a 96 accord. it is automatic. I read the faq I but I don't know if the same thing is for automatic cars too. For some reason my car started to rev up more when I press the gas but the speed takes forever to move up between 0-40 miles. after 40 the car ok. then when I stop at a light the same thing happens again. is it my transmission going out or something?

It is possible that your lock up torque converter is locked up all the time. The torque converter is only suppose to lock up after 30MPH but yours is locking up all the time.

is there a simple way to fix this or do I have to replace it. i heard it cost alot of money to change torgue convertor. Also it seems my rpm goes to 1 to 6 very fast and rev's up alot when I hit about 20 miles.

If the RPM is going from 1k to 6k while your transmission is shifting then you have a shift flare. Shift flares are usually caused by a problem with the transmission and i think you will have to take the trans apart to fix it. To fix the broken lock up torque converter you will most likely have to change the torque converter.

yea it does sound like you should start saving up for a new transmission.

now would be a great time to try out some lucas trans fix. i dont recommend using it unless you have a problem, and you are the perfect candidate. you really should try some and let us know how it goes.

it wil be between 1500 and 2K to repair.

Usually the 5th gen transmissions last the life of the car or well past 200K

You could just deal with it, at this point it doesn't sound like the problem is bad enough to stop your car from running.

it is kinda hard to deal with it because everytime I stop my car at light or stop sign, it stay at 20 miles and the car rev up many times for a good 10 seconds before hitting 40 miles lol. What if a police was beside me...he probable think I want to race.

I just found the lucas trans fix at my advance auto parts store and I am going to try it 2moro to see if anything happen. Also is it called a shrudder if u could feel ur gear grinding when ther gears changes?
