Transmission replacement for 88' lxi
This may seem like a dumb question, but can I change out my F4 transmission for another F4 transmission. Or, is there some other way to make sure I get the right used transmission? How difficult is the project?

\86-89 tranny will work..........
as for how difficult it is,, it is not too difficult but I would get a service manual if i were you and read up a bit before attempting the job , It is not too difficult but time consuming ,, the hardest part will be probably removing the axle nuts (32mm ) and getting tranny in and out .especially if you do not have a lift ..
