transmission - reverse 1995 Honda Accord 2.7l
every now an then my Accord has difficulty dropping into reverse. its sporadic but its acting up a little more recently. also has some trouble dropping into second gear after starting, so I have to bring RPMs up to 3-4,000 and once it shifts the car drives great. I bring the car to operating temperature every time I start it. any suggestions. I would be willing to drop a new transmission into it, but I know very little about this subject. I did put a new Transmission Solenoid in the car in 2018.

If the transmission is failing internally, then you would have to rebuild/replace which is expensive.
Before condemming the transmission there are a few things you can investigate that are less expensive than a transmission replacement and worth a shot.
Scan for codes. Your 95 V6 is OBD2 and the connector is behind the ash tray. Post any codes on here.
I think the V6 has a throttle cable from the throttle body to the transmission that you can adjust to take up any slack. It could cause strange shifting patterns.
Change the transmission fluid. You'll drain/refill with ~ 3 qts transmission fluid, then drive to adequately mix (a day or a week depending on your schedule). Repeat 2 more times to exchange most of the fluid with fresh fluid. When draining the fluid, take a close look at the fluid to see if there is a bunch of debris or metal shavings. Spreading the fluid thin helps see this, so I put a few drops on the inside of a white cap of a jelly or pickle jar. The white background helps to reveal contaminants.

thanks very much! happy Holidays! I will have the throttle cable checked first and then scan for any codes, then do the fluid as instructed before I move to rebuild/replace,
If I went with a replace, is there any transmission as good or better then the factory transmission with this specific car, or rebuild would be the way to go?

I don't know if there is a different transmission to swap in. This was Honda's first V6 accord. I would advise against using the 98-02 V6 transmissions if they fit on your accord. I don't see too many 95-97 V6 failures on here, so I'd stick with the transmission that came with the car. Rebuilt is probably the way to go.
