Unstaking axle nut?
I've been trying to find out how to stake/unstake an axle nut, and I have not found very clear explanations. As a matter of fact, I don't even know what staking/unstaking is for and what's its purpose. Can someone explain to me what this is?

I'll try...be nice to know what year you have...might be able give actual pictures.
The axel nut is threaded onto the outer cv joint. Most of the time there is a "key" in that part-an indent in it. Staking it means you fold the out part of the nut (raised part of the nut) into this indent...thus "locking" the nut. In theroy with this metal folded into that indent there is no way it will back off.
Unstaking the nut is the proess by which you fold the metal rim part of the nut out of that indent....an old screw driver with the right size tip works wonders.....
