Default Vibration causes?

I have recently purchased a used 2002 Honda Acccord SE with the standard alloy wheels....mileage is 121,000 km.

I get a vibration, felt mostly through the steering wheel, at around 100 km/h(60 mph)....perfectly smooth otherwise.

I have had the wheels balanced at the dealer's, who are very good, but the vibration still persists.

I will be returning to the dealer's after the holidays for another check, but is there anything else I should be looking for in regards to the vibration other than wheel imbalance.

To check for a bad belt on the tire, or flat spot.
Find a smooth parking lot to roll across at idle speed,
lightly hold the steering wheel and see if you can feel any 'bumps'.
The other option is to find a place that has a ROAD FORCE tire balancer.

Thank you...will do.

Of course, finding an empty parking lot at this time of the year may be a challenge...plus, most are still a bit icy.

I go to the dealers on January2nd, and I will mention the tires.

Go to www dot gsp9700 dot com

Theres a link to find shops that have the Hunter machine that can measure road-force variations. I dont know if there are other similar machines?

I had a similar problem, in the end it turned out to be separating belts inside the tire. I even went slowly in a parking lot with someone walking alongside to watch the tires. No luck. Eventually the steel threads started poking out...

Thank you kindly, Jim...I'll check out the link.

I have a suspicion it may be one of the tires, or maybe more than one...they are new, the dealer installed them when they took the car in on trade, but I don't think they are ofhigh quality...if I can remember, I think they are called "Touring" or something like that.

I appreciate the help very much, and I will post the results of my visit to the dealer.

I have been reading about automatic transmission woes on my model...there's 121,000 on it so far, and no problems that I can notice...I find it shifts smoother than my 1994 EX-R...I'll also check at the dealers to see if there were any issues with this one in the service records.

For me, those tires were getting old & it wasnt worth it - the Hunter machine roadforce balancing is kinda pricey. But for your new-ish tires, see whether you can get the dealer to do that.

Just want to follow up on the cause of the vibration at/near 100 K/H.

The dealer replaced all four tires with new ones and the vibration is gone.

Thanks again for your help.
