Default Vtec head problems

I just installed a vtec head in my car but I still have the non vtec wiring, distributor and ecu. Before I installed the vtec head my rev limit was around 8500 rpm's but after I installed the vtec head the rev limit is now 4500 rpm's in any gear does anyone know what could it be?

did you reset the ecu after the swap? Is everything connected? Proper timing? Any other funny things that it does or just the rev limiter issue?

Yes everything is correct and the only problem that I have is the rev limit. Just in case I'll check the timing with the mechanic on monday.

I assume that you did reset the ECU then? I believe it's just the #15 fuse that you have to pull for like 30 seconds or remove the negative battery cable for a few minutes and then try it

The VTEC wont work anyway, will it? Since its a non-VTEC ECU and wiring, I would assume that the VTEC wouldnt kick in. I know this doesnt explain the low rev limit, Im just putting it out there lol.

Yes I know that the vtec wont work I already bought the ecu I only need the wiring. Does anyone have a vtec wiring for a 94 or 95 accord?

Here's a skunk2 wiring harness (I'm sure you could find this elsewhere as well if you search), it sounds like it is a wiring issue for sure since 4500 is the vtec engagment point and if you don't have it wired up/grounded very well then it's not going to work

first off you need to get the right ECU and then run the wire for vtec. Since you are rev limited to 4500, you need to pull the code (there should be one stored)
