Default water pump & timing belt

I need to get the timing belt and water pump maint. done to my car as it has almost 120,000 miles. I had someone offer to do it for $250 with me buying the Honda parts ($200). I was wondering if it is something that is pretty easy. Should I trust a mechanic who works for Chevy or should I just give up the other $200 and have the Honda dealership do it?

Thanks

it depends on what year of car you have and what engine on the difficulty level.... however, I'd say off the top of my head that it's an okay price but nothing spectacular.... first off, when they do it get the belt, pump and seals all done (don't forget the seals), use only honda oem parts and chances are that a chevy mechanic should be able to do it just fine.... Get a quote from the dealership though, I bet they'll be close to the same price for parts and labor as the quote you're already getting.... As much as I hate dealerships I'd trust them to do the job right more than I would trust someone who's not used to honda's....

also get a quote from an indipendent shop that specializes in Hondas ( not the dealer )
