RE: WEIRD issues with my car

I actually haven't even had a passenger for a long time. I'm seeing a blue plug behind the glove box (with a little red plug in front of it) but I always thought the wires going to the code diagnostic plug were blue....

I think I found it.... Red wire and Green/blue wire?

RE: WEIRD issues with my car

If the blue plug (that was pluged in to something) with the red wire (little silver "square" in the middle not the lenth of it) and the green/blue wire are the two going to it then I found it, I shorted it and got no code. There is minor corrosion under the positive terminal side on the battery but the connection/connector itself looks fine.

Since you said that you don't have passengers in your car, you might want to remove the glovebox so you can easily pinpoint the relay that is clicking. Isn't the ABS control module on the floorboard on the passenger side of the car?

You will probably have to look at the electrical diagram for the component that you locate. Bad grounds can cause weird things to happen. You might want to sand them a bit and tighten them.

I know that you can download the electrical portion of the shop manual from hondahookup.com.

If it's the right wire, it will cause your CEL to come on solid when there's no error codes to flash.

it sounds like it is a loose connection somewhere, cause it comes and goes as you accell- decell ( rocking movement ) .. they share a common ground, might be as good place to start as any ( g-401) it is located under the left side of dash,, it is next to a 2 wires brown plug ..
i will see if i can pinpoint the location and give you more info to make it easier to find ..

www.hondahookup.com/manuals has a file (Honda Accord CE1/CE2 (1994) Update for CD7/CD9 Service Manual 1) that has a decent picture of the ground locations. Just click on electrical, and the page is 23A6 and 23A7.

Jim: it must have been the right one because it did cause the CEL to come on solid.

I was reading through the manuals and noticed two things for why the indicator can come on;
1) Strong radio waves interfere (noise)
2) Bad ground (as mentioned by desert)

So I went back to my computer troubleshooting methods, start removing stuff (kinda) The only thing that I could really remove is my XM radio that is powered via the cigarette lighter. I was driving home the light came on, the stereo went off, I pulled the power from the XM and everything instantly started to work again. I plugged it back in, wiggled it around a bit and had no issues all the way home and no problems on the way to work. I think at this point it's a pipe dream to think that it's something that simple but I've got my fingers crossed. I'll keep you updated. If it happens again I'll go dash diving for some ground wires.

Side note: my XM runs off an FM transmitter so interferance came to mind

Well as strange as this sounds the issues haven't crept back ever since I pulled the cigarette lighter adapter and plugged it back in and I've driven a fair amount. I'll keep you all posted if it comes back but for now I think it's working.
