Default What to look for when buying?

Hi, i'm looking to buy an Accord maybe later today or tomorrow.

It's an M reg 4 door, 2.0 16v version and the guy wants £400 for it although i only wanna pay £200 max for it.
Also it is quiet scruffy with a need for some new panels (bonnet, boot and front bumper), maybe a respray, tax very soon and have no idea about mot as it wasn't stated. It also has a tiny rust spot at the bottom of each sides rear arch apart from that there is no serious problems i can see but as i've not seen it started or ben under it or in it just wondering what to look our for maybe tomorrow.

Just wondering if there are any problem areas that i should be looking for?

Thanks in advance for any help that comes my way.

First thing i would check before any exterior work, would be the motor, make sure things work properly, test drive, usually if the buyer notices that you know your stuff and you mean business, and he or she or bloke or mate, cant give you twirl around and negotiate a better deal.

Yeah, i'd never buy a car without having a good look around it and a drive. Any particular sounds these make normally? Do they have the typical "jap tap" or are they a quiet motor?

Any sounds i should be looking out for? Any traits that on any other car that could be interpreted as a problem but are fine on this car?

Spent a few years in the motor trade so i know my stuff but i've never had the pleasure of working on one of these before.

Just after a few REAL owners that know their stuff from their own experience rather than going off what the seller says and my experience of cars in general.

a year of the car would help diagnose any common faults it may have.

Well, you should really listen out and visually try to see anything out of the norm, like squealing belts, noisy lifters,or shaking due to bad mounts..

1; I've not said I'm buying it yet! I said I'm looking at buying it.

2; I know the year is 94/95 as that is how our license plates work and having not spoken to the bloke i haven't had chance to ask for certain.

3; Thanks for the constructive help.
