what is the name of this part?

My car is 2003 Accord LX 4 cylinder Automatic with 75,000 miles. It runs well and no code so far. One day, I notice there is a part (circled in red in the pic) which is on the driver's side of the engine, connected to the engine by a narrow tube and also connected to intake air duct by a wide tube.
Attachment 18890 What is the name of this part? I also noticed there is a small tube (red arrow) protruding from this circled part. Close by, there is a separate protruding of intake air tube (yellow arrow). Are those two things supposed to be connected or not? Thanks a lot Attachment 18891 |
The part is called an air flow chamber. The metal line leading into it is a breather tube. It is #2 in the picture below. I would say the rubber part of the intake snorkel should be connected to that air flow chamber. It probably became disconnected when the air filter was changed.

Yeah, the small connection to the intake duct needs to be stuck back together. (Red & yellow arrows in your picture #3)

Thanks a lot! They were put back together.

No auto zone worker can tell me what the part is called. Someone said air flow chamber but anything i google or look up at an auto parts store does not match that part. I need this fixed asap as my plates a due in march

Double check me, you didn't give exact year/engine/trim combo so I'm kind of guessing based upon the original posters car information/
"breather joint rubber" is what Honda calls it - 17152-RAA-A00. Should be about $3 at the dealer. I highly doubt you will find this a normal "parts store". |
