What type of coolant to use?

I agree, don't by the 50/50 mix...it does cost more if you do the math.

Also plan to dilute with distilled water to prevent mineral formation.

My coolant fans also kicks on and off for about a minute after I shut the engine off?

Not sure why, or if it is normal. Any suggestions for both of us who mentioned this happening.

About the fan running on after...

Up to 1997 Accords, there's a 2nd fan-switch, located in the nozzle of the UPPER radiator hose. That can switch on one of the fans after the engine is shut off. It runs through a timer so the fan doesn't run forever if the switch fails.

Beginning in 1998, Accords don't do that.

dexcool is more specific to GM vehicles.

i recommend not using it. it sludges up the cooling system if not regularly flushed.
