What Year Accord to Buy?

Hi,
I'm new to the group. I have a 1988 Accord DX with 382,000 miles on it. Living in Minnesota, it's got a little rust on it. It still runs great but I think I'm going to get another this spring. I'm looking at any Accord from 2000 to 2007 and I wanted some feed back. Are there any years with something bad (too small of oil return holes, transmission won't last, early rustect). I want a 4 cylinder automatic.
I don't know how the group is but please this isn't to "Bash" a model, just the good and bad.
Thanks, BG

Go with 2004 to 2007. The 6th gen autos have a major tranny problem (the reason I don't have one anymore) and even though Honda won't admit it, the problem extended into the first couple of years into the 7th generation. With that many miles, can we assume that yours is manual?
If you are buying an automatic, DO NOT buy any year model between 98-02. It is a coin flip as to whether the trans will conk out on you or not. I know Falkore already said it, but I would hate for you to come back on here after you bought a 98-02 model and be asking questions about the transmission because it is acting funny. If the trans is acting funny on a 98-02, 90% of the time it is shot.

Thanks.
How are the motors?
I see the Hondas that always have a smallrust spotjust behind the rear wheels, will this still happen or has Honda addressed this?
I do like the looks of the 04-05 body style. Is there any difference in the LX orEX other than the power extra?
Are the seatsfrom a manual seat versus power seat the same material or will the manual seat break down sooner?

I do have an automatic transmission in my 1988 Accord.
Thanks again for all your help, Bigguy

The motors are pretty much bulletproof. I'm not sure, but I don't think that the rust problem is apparent on 6th gen on. Take a look at Wikipedia's page for "Honda Accord." Again, I'm not sure, but I'd expect the same material on the seats.
Is that the first tranny that your car has had? Mine died at 90k.

EX is top of the line, LX is a step down. The engines are the same. The engine (K24) is rumored to be one of the best Honda has put into Accords. I'm not too sure about the seats. Personally I would think a power seat would break down sooner than a manual one
Neither of my accords has any rust that I know of

I'm not sure. I was given the car when it had 220,000 miles on it. I looked through the receipts they kept and I didn't see anything. I know when it shifts into high, I have to let up as it slides a little, it then shifts and off I go. When it warms up, it works as normal.
Thanks to everyone for the helpful advice, Bigguy
You might want to think about getting the next car immediately!!!! Mine had a half second gap that it would appear to be in neutral for a long time before the tranny crapped out. I was going out with a girl that had a 6th gen 4 cylinder that the tranny wass much tighter.
After I did a quad fluid change, a week later the tranny died completely. You should change cars ASAP to avoid losing about $3000 worth of the car's value like I did.

OK, I overlooked your milage on the last post ..... still, I was quoted at $2700 for the tranny installed by a specialist that I know .... maybe $2300 from someone else, but neither was worth it to me since I wanted a smaller manual car that I could get over the 1.0G lateral handling mark. My car was valued at $6400 if it had a good tranny in it.
EDIT: Give our government a few years and $3000 worth of gas may not even fill the tank!!!
