Default When have you done your first Brakes?

Just curious what kind of wear your getting out of your Brakes. My B.I.L.'s goes in today at 36,000 for rear brakes. My 2009 V6 has 55,400 and I haven't done anything to my brakes yet. I get the oil changed every 4,000 miles at the dealer and they haven't mentioned anything yet. I figure if anything their always looking to do things plenty early and often ($$) so that must be a good sign. Wondering if I'm doing better than normal, average, etc. He figures he got caught up in the rear pad plague they had going on for awhile. Although his is a 2010 and I thought it was over by then.

I've always hated to answer questions about why someone's brakes last longer or wear out sooner than someone else.

Lifespan of brakes is a real tricky thing. It depends a HUGE amount on your driving habits and terrain. Not to mention they change pad material certain models & years.

Some models with stability-control seem more prone to wearing out the rear brakes. That might even be due to agressive driving where the stab-ctrl starts using the rear brakes when you're not even on the brake pedal.
