Default wrecked 2002 accord f23a4

my daughter wrecked her 02 accord. it has the f23a4 and auto tranny.
We are gonna look for another car to put the engine and/or tranny in.
If i am thinking right it will need to be 98-02 accord and i may need to transfer the ecu?Is this correct?

thank you

F23A4 is the ULEV-VTEC engine. There's a fair amount of things different in the car's wiring harness. So you'll NEED to find a car that came with the ULEV engine. Otherwise just find another car altogether.

You might be able to "convert" your engine into a non-ULEV engine. Find a car with a blown F23A1 VTEC (non-ULEV) engine. Use the exhaust manifold, oxygen sensor, and all the wiring from the non-ULEV engine. That kinda narrows down your choices for a replacement car, but Accord LX & EX would do. I think the Accord DX is the only one to avoid.

just let me know. I rather use a f23 block than my f22 block for my monster build

Default finally found one

just purchased a 99 accord in good shape 200,000 miles for 900 bucks. The engine is surging when warm and the transmission pulls intermittently when the engine starts surging,I am debating on whether to try to fix and let her drive for a while, or just going ahead with the swap.

Surging could be a simple as low coolant, I'm sure you checked that, or it could be other things. If you are going to let her drive it for a while I would spend the time and fix it

surging was bad IAC and had code for 3rd clutch pressure switch.replaced both. so now it runs good and shifts ok but still jumps when putting in reverse or drive.
