Default 4-1 or 4-2-1 headers?

A buddy of mine who once had a 5th gen Accord told me that I should get 4-1 headers instead of 4-2-1 headers. Now sometimes he does not know what he's talking about. Do they make 4-1 headers for the 5th gen Accords, and would they be better than the 4-2-1 headers?

I dont know of a 4-1 for the F22, they have them for the H22, but they aren't really for street applications, they produce more high end power, but lose it in the low end, also they usually hang lower than a 4-2-1 so very easy to scrape.

So, 4-2-1 would be better? Oh, and another question... are the 4-2-1 headers interchangeable between the F22 and H22 engines?

yes I would go with a 4-2-1, not to mention alot easier to find. I know where you could get a 4-1 for the F22 made, but it would probably cost you around $1000. No F22 and H22 headers are not interchangeable.

Say I were to do an engine swap... put an H22 in my car, I'd have to look for headers for a Prelude? And this kinda belongs in a different post, but what about the exhaust? Would I have to get a different exhaust if I swapped my F22 for a H22?

You would need a prelude header, you would keep your accord exhaust, but to make them line up it requires a little custom work, I made the choice to not run a cat and just get a test pipe made up to make them meet up, you would have to cut into your exhaust to be able to run a cat, but neither of these are a big deal for any exhaust shop to do.

Oh okay cool. Just trying not to screw myself over for the future when I do get a engine swap. I don't wanna get some expensive F22 headers when I'm gonna run a H22 maybe a couple years in the future, if that far in the future, lol.

if your interested in a header I would just get a Megan Racing or J-sport, its like $150 for the megan, $100 for the j-sport.

That's understandable.

I don't recommend the headers for Honda 4 cylinder engines. If you do get one, get 4-2-1 and look for as smooth a 4-2 as possible and the longest smooth 2-1 that you can find .... 3" is ok, 5" is good but I doubt that you will find it cheap. There will only be gains on the top end and I think this should only be done to improve exhaust flow for a nitrous application or a supercharger.

Then again, I have some different ideas than others, for example I am going to be using a log manifold rather than a header type because it runs much cooler.
