Default 94-97 Accord Free Power!

So the topic may be slightly misleading but.... I was Messing around with my car this weekend and noticed that the intake on my 94 Accord EX points directly at my battery so I lifted up this little flap type thing (who knows why it's there..) and noticed that a section of pipe was loose... So I removed it *L* and it seemed to smooth out things a touch, I doubt there was any real acceleration gains but it did seem to make the throttle response more even... If you have a car between these years let me know if you've done it etc. I will post pics of people get really confused... But seriously, the intake opening points towards the batter, just grab ahold of it and pull up it's just a plastic piece and it pops out.... Let me know if anyone finds this same thing!

pull out the stock intake all together, and put a 3 inch pipe and cone filter, that usually helps ^_^ otherwise im not sure where you are talking about

I've got a 01 so it's probably different, but my intake also pointed at my battery. Is this just a pipe your talking about or is it like a big black box?

I'm pretty sure its there to "help" keep the battery cooler...but I doubt it does much, cooling wise.

I can't run out and take pictures right now but I will in a few minutes... It's the final portion of the intake where it actually has the opening to draw in air... I'm guessing it's an emissions thing of some sort... It just lifts out though, right behind the passenger side headlight... I'll post pictures in about an hour or so... if nothing else it's kinda funny... My Civic Was the same way

Battery's wont overheat unless your alternater is overchargeing, so you dont have to worry about that...

It sounds like your talking about that big black resonator box (i think that is what it's called) that is used to silence the intake a bit, as well as restricts some air flow. If you can put a picture up that'd really help.

lol, well idk! On my Accord, it looks like it vents a small amount of air in the direction of my battery. I was confused when I discovered that awhile ago too! Anyways, let us know if it sounds better or gives you a smidge more power

Well it appears to have smoothed things out a bit in acceleration, no real noticeable difference in noise... I'd assume you may get a couple HP out of it... I wonder about fuel mileage...
