Breather Hose Question
Hey guys, I've got a question about breather hoses. I bought an intake kit, installed it and everything, but only problem is is that my breather hose does not fit exactly into the new piping. So now, I took a silicone pipe and wrapped it around my pipe in order to get it installed without having any kinks in it. It's about two feet long now. My question is, what does the breather pipe do, and will I lose performance or throttle response if I make it longer?
Thanks for the help. I was being stupid and looping the hose that the kit came with around stuff and whatnot. Your pic helps alot. Thanks again.
EDIT:
I have a couple questions. First, I added two pictures. What is the pipe that is circled in blue (goes from stock air filter into engine block)? Is that the breather hose? Second, what is the pipe in red (it is welded to the thing in blue)? What are those two pipes, and what do they do exactly? I have an '00 Accord EX V6.
In reply to the post above, I tried using the little plastic tube and whatnot, but now I get a new problem.
Below is a picture of my stock air intake. My intake pipe that I installed does not fit well with the old hose (blue in the picture). When I tried installing it with the rubber pipe that the kit included, I end up stretching things and bending things that I don't think would be a good idea to stretch or bend.
The other thing I thought about trying was taking the breather hose, attaching a rubber hose to it, and looping it around the intake pipe to avoid any kinks. Keep in mind, this would make the pipe about 2 to 3 feet in length. Is that a bad idea? Will I lose throttle response or performance?
To avoid this completely, should I invest in one of these to forget about the problem completely?

Also, while the engine is cold, and right when I turn off my engine, the short ram intake I installed makes a sort of kshhhhhhh sound. Is this a bad sound, or is it expected? Please help me out guys.

The sound you described in the end is normal. Intakes make that sound when you turn your engine off (mine does anyway.)
About the hoses: I am not sure how far I can help you. I have a 2000 4cyl. Mine only had one hose to hook up so I'm not sure what the other one there is for. But I do remember my kit came with waaayyyy too much hose. I cut it down to fit. I believe that was what was intended for mine.
This sounds like a job for Falkore

The blue is the breather hose and the red is a coolant line. Your intake should have come with a big hose and a smaller one to replace these. When you rip the joined pipes out and replace them with simple runs, you're probably going to say to yourself, 'D@mn Honda! That was a retarded design!' I did!

On mine you can see the breather hose with the coolant hose a tiny bit inside. Notice that the sizes are the same as the joined pipes that you posted.

Dude... your engine bay looks sick. And thanks both of you, my question is answered. Only other thing that peaks my curiosity is, on the stock intake, you had the breather hose going into it, and on the exact opposite theres another pipe going further back into the backside of the engine. Any ideas?
And yeah, i HATE that Honda decided to weld together the breather hose line and the coolant line. It's really annoying.

I'm not 100%, but I think it's the other breather hose ..... V6 has 2 heads
As for the pipes being welded, you get to toss that piece in the trash if you don't plan to go back to OEM.
..... and some lucky mechanic got a steal on that car from the auto auction that the dealer that I bought my Scion from sent it to. That car got auctioned for something like $4k with a Tein SS suspension, CT swaybars, tie bar, projector HID headlights, wood interior, intake, headers, WS2 exhaust, almost all of the rubber under the hood replaced with silicone, a pristine engine, and even almost new tires!

But if someone knowshow to DIY a trans rebuild, they did get a steal on it.I know that's what you meant by that post.
