cat help
I have a fully built f23a1 w/ turbo. I'm currently running no cat, the smoke is killing me. What would be the best 3" cat.

RE: cat help
There's a 3" dynomax one on Jegs.com. The one from Magnaflo (also on jegs) looks good too (says it's high flo), but I haven't used either of them.

RE: cat help
the smoke????????? what color is it? a cat will absolutely not stop any smoke, you have a serious problem.
|
RE: cat help
The smoke is white, the car is running real rich. The AEM EMS was bad and I had to pull it out and send it back. The VTEC wasn't kickin in. The smog is what's killing me.

RE: cat help
a cat will not help at all.....white smoke usually means blown head gasket. blue is oil...black is when its too rich. when you take off your cat it doesnt start to blow smoke.

RE: cat help
It could also be a bad oil ring (I hope not). But I won't know until I bring it back to the shop.

RE: cat help
no the smoke would be blue...very noticable blue if you had a bad oil ring. its your headgasket probably. its definatly not a ring though. and def not a problem with you not having a cat

RE: cat help
even if the head gasket is new? Could be possible I am boost'n @ 14 psi. Can you tell if you do a compression chk if the head gasket is bad, because they did that and all 4 cyl were perfect.

RE: cat help
The other reason I want a cat is to quiet it down a bit. what do you know about random technology?
|
RE: cat help
i mean im not saying its for sure...... that your head gasket is blown. maybe its just cold out when all that white fog puffs out of your muffler. maybe thats what it is. they probably compression tested it when they first put the head gasket on. and now that you have run it.....you have discovered where their work was not completely professional... dont be in denial though. blown head gaskets are bad. oil can get into the coolant, and coolant can get into the oil.
