DC Headers
Usually they come with gaskets but I'd defenitly ask the seller before hand just to make sure..... As for the cost vs. OBX it's hard to say, OBX seem to be a great brand but they make O2 sensor installation kind of a pain and I have heard of 1 or 2 cases where they (the OBX headers) cracked a little bit and had to be fixed.... I personally would try the OBX and risk having one or two problems to save some money but DC Sports Headers are hands down a better product than OBX... so what's the most important to you: Value, Quality, or Performance
I've always wanted DC headers, but that's just because I have like a thing for DC Sports and AEM. I was wondering though, I got in an argument with my buddy a while back, because he said that Megan Racing headers are just as good as DC headers. To be totally honest, at the time I didn't really have a leg to stand on, because he had Megan Racing headers, and I had NOTHING... so yeah, I think I lost that argument lol. But I wanted to know what you guys thought... Oh, and what are OBX headers?
Go on ebay ant search obx header... i think they are just as good of a product as DC or any other header for that matter... to me a header is a header... besides the 60 dollar cheapos... OBX is a brand name just the same as megan or DC... they just dont charge a ridiculous amount of $ for some piping... i have a OBX on my ride and im super pleased with everything except the gaskets they came with... but i made my own and its been running strong no cracks no leaks for over 5 months now... and i drive my car HARD...
Okay man, I'll definitely check em out. I get what you're saying about all headers being pipes lol, as long as they hold up I guess it doesn't really matter, assuming that they all improve flow equally.
The biggest difference between different brands of headers is going to be a few things... Construction (cleanliness of welds, strenghth of welds, thickness and temper of the metal being used), Bending style (there is crush bent or mandrel bent) crush bent is where they just fold the pipe basically and you wind up with some wrinkles on the inside of the pipe, this in turn creates disturbance in the airflow and isn't as effecient as mandrel bent. Mandrel bent they actually shape/bend the pipe so that it's a smooth transition around the corners and thus gives you a higher/more effecient exhaust flow, Then there is the reduction type and fitment, meaning is it a 4 pipe to 2 pipes to 1 pipe (4-2-1) or a 4 pipe to 1 pipe (4-1) and fitment basically means how well is it designed for your particular application, do you have to strech the O2 sensor? Lastly is diameter, I have never seen a whole lot of data on this one but some of them are a slightly larger "bore" than others (but not always)..... So that is why some are better than others, DC sports are expensive, but they are tuned and dynoed and built well, good fit, great effeciency
