do you have to remove resanator to install intake?
hey all, if I was going to install an AEM SRI, would it be required for me to take the entire bumper off to remove the resanator? What does it do anyway? or could I just ignore it?
also, does the intake come with instructions?
thanx for the input

I never knew you had to take off the whole bumper to do that. And plus, I didn't even have to go beneath the car to install my sri, I just left the extra parts of the factory intake on as long as my AEM was on. I'm pretty sure you don't have to go through that headache.

I have been trying to search around on the forum for an answer. I will likely be getting a SRI soon and I am also wondering this. I don't think you have to remove the resonator to install. It looks like some people remove the resonater box & some people don't.

Im thinking about getting it. But, is it worth it considering the mileage on my car (173k)? I just switched to synthetic oil with no problem, engine is in great shape. So, any opinions? Also, my car is an automatic if it makes a difference.

SRI...no.
CAI...yes.
7th gen resonator removal
I removed it in a couple of steps. First, jack the car up to a suitable and safe location. Second, take the front left wheel off. Third, disconnect the plastic tabbing around the wheel well. Fourth, unscrew the ONE bolt holding the plastic together. (You have to remove a bunch more of plastic tabs...grrr...honda on the side of the wheel). Fifth, pull on the bumper a bit to give you more room. There are two bolts holding the resonator in place. One is accessible from the engine bay. The other is hidden deep within the crevice of your wheel well. Get a maglite or its equivalent and shine it though...it should take 5 minutes to find and remove. After removal of bolts...remove the resonator through the wheel well, NOT the engine bay.
I removed my resonator...because Maryland has a fairly wet season...I swtich from SRI to CAI during summers/falls. CAI to SRI during winters/springs. I think more air flows in because your bulky resonator is out of the way...but the ride is considerably louder at your SRI peak levels. (3000+). That's what I got outta it.

Good post sleeper. I was almost positive you would have to remove it with a CAI (The resonator would totally block the pathway for the CAI tubing) but I didn't think you would need to with the SRI. I think I might remove mine if I can do it on my 6th gen without removing the front bumper. I have researched & seen that most 6th gen owners say it's easier to remove the bumper on our cars.

You have to...in most designs...the secondary piping goes in place of the resonator so the filter can be positioned in front of the wheel well, etc.
Well, i didn't really remove the bumper...more like took a corner and stretched it out...lol. But if you can do it, more power to ya!

i have SRI and i removed that 15 pound resonator lol i noticed it when i was installing my carbon fiber fenders and i was like what the hell is this big piece of junk??? its like an apendix really lol and as far as removing it, it is necessary to remove your bumper...there is no other way..the bumper is so easy to remove tho, you'll be surprised that its only held by a couple of plastic screws and bolts[&:]...if there's any questions let me know...ive taking my bumper apart like 3 times so i know the steps by now lol
