most of them are probably straight thru cats or dummy cats, meant to look like you have one when in reality it is a straight piece of pipe. Another thing to keep in mind is that it doesn't look like there is an o2 sensor bung at the cat exit like the OEM cat, which will trigger a check engine light.

One option is to buy something called a MIL (malfuntion indicator lamp) Eliminator. This can be found on ebay and most are very easy to install and also inexpensive. This will prevent a check engine light from an aftermarket cat. If you want to maintain OEM emisions and the like, you're better off going with the OEM cat.

Are you looking for a high flow cat or a test pipe. The price is the give away as to what is what. The ones that are around $100 or more are actual cats. The cheap ones are test pipes that are shaped like a cat. Some of the test pipes will have holes for your o2 sensor but you will still throw a CEL. Most of the high flow cats will clear emissions for awhile. They tend to last for only about a year or so until they drop below the specs that your ecm looks for.(A couple of my friends have run into this)

oo aright....
thanks a lot guys...yea the cat i have on now is toast..
im not sure still to get a high flow or OEM cat. It doesnt bother me if i dont pass emissions. Id like to have a cat that lasts long so i guess thatd be an OEM cat.
So in that case id be looking at the cats leaning more to the $100 mark if im correct...?

If you want a true cat. The cheaper ones are just straight pipes that look like cats.
