Default freeflowing exhaust.. Good idea?

I have a 98 v6 accord coupe and i hate how quiet that thing is.. The so called performance catback systems cost over 1000 for the dual and they really wouldn't do that much if i dont get the headers too. I just recently got into import cars, i had a 95 camaro z28 before and i had no exhaust on it. straight pipe from engine and i did a 10 second flat 1/4 mile. along with other mods too of course. But my camaro ran fine witout a cat and a muffler. i was wondering what kind of crap i will have to deal with if i ripped out everything on the honda. If there are any mechanics reading this please comment on this before i go ahead a throw the stock junk away.

well its obs 2 so ur gunna throw a light... hondas need a thing called back pressure that the exhaust makes so that the exhaust doesent have time to expant and cool down before it gets out of the exhause (it creates torque that is desperately lacking)

As legion said, you will get a CEL, but as far as how the engine runs...I don't think you will have any trouble. (Also, I don't quite follow what legionofone was trying to say, butback pressure is a bad thing. What you want isthe proper exhaust velocity.) An O2 sensor emulator will take care of the light. Keep in mind, removing the cat will get you a large fine if you get caught. However, if you want to run the risk and your after a few horsepower and a louder exhaust, thats the cheapest way to do it. The expensive way would beto purchase a header back and high flow cat.

A 10 second quarter mile is pretty impressive. I'd guess you had a blower or nitrous?
