JDM or OBX exhaust system?
Hey I'm planning to upgrade my exhaust and I wanted to know which catback exhaust system is better: JDM or OBX? I saw on eBay that OBX is much more expensive than JDM, and I wanted to know what the major differences are. Before I consider making a purchase, I wanted to compare the two systems, and I was hoping that some of you could answer a few of my questions. Which system is easiser to install? Which system is known to increase the car's horsepower more than the other? Which is quieter than the other? I don't want my car to be heard by all my neighbors when coming home. Also, which system has given you guys the least trouble overall?
I know that some of you will recommend other brands or types, but I don't want to spend a great deal of money for a top of the line system yet. I will eventually buy a newer exhaust system later on when I get a higher paying job, but for now, I want to choose between these two. Thank you for all your responses and help.

well first of all JDM mean japanise domestic market(meaning parts/cars that are only sold in japan) ebay companies just use it to make their products sound better when they are really just crap. so i would say go with obx and stay away from anything that says "jdm style" or anything like that on ebay
Haha thanks. One of my friends recommended JDM, but I really didn't trust him on that. Hey I searched eBay for OBX headers but I couldn't find any. Buying headers would be my next step after installing the exhaust. Any of you know where I can get some good OBX headers (if you would recommend that) for a fair price? Also, what would you recommend that I do as the next step to upgrading my exhaust system after installing new pipes and headers? Thanks in advance.

there isnt really much you can do to upgrade the exhaust after that, other than perhaps remove the cat or a high flow cat.
but i would do a intake if you dont already have one

Hey thanks. Not a bad price for the header. Good shipping cost too. Maybe you could help me get started for the intake then? I'm actually new to upgrading my car and I don't know much about it. Just to let you know, I'm 19 and my Accord is actually my second car to own. Thanks.

Hey! I have the exact same car with you and actually did a post in this section about OBX headers. They are great, but check out my otehr post and itll give you some useful tips. I would go with an OBX cat back. As for intake, its up to your money. Either a generic intake off ebay $40 then replace the filter with an AEM DryFlow or K&N or get a name brand like AEM, Injen, K&N, Weapon R, for $110ish +
Hey thanks guys for all your replies. I know that I could get some really good parts for my car, but I don't want crappy. I'll stick with middle class stuff until I can afford the really expensive stuff. You see, I guess I'm in a hurry to experience and learn about these things. Right now I'm a college student, just finished my freshman year to be exact, and I'm going towards a computer engineering degree. I'm guaranteed about $80,000 a year when I get out with a bachelor's degree, so money won't going to be an issue with me when I work on my Accord. For now, I just want to settle for something good like those OBX exhaust systems since I'm only earning $11.11 an hour at work and trying to pay off bills and college. Anyway, I would appreciate your help in guiding me towards upgrading my car for a good price until I can afford to replace the parts with top of the line ones. Thanks.
Oh, and one more thing. I heard that upgrading the exhaust reduces your gas mileage. By how much would an OBX catback reduce my gas mileage, and how could I decrease that consumption without losing horsepower? Thanks.

You only lose horsepower when you punch it WOT....which is tempting after you mod your car. If you drive it regularly...you shouldn't lose much MPG...but in some cases gain an addtional 1-2 mpg.
And what's your major????
