Looking at new purchases -- Need help with quality
So has anyone found a cheap SRI comparible to the pricing everyone speaks of as the "ebay special"? I can't find anything cheaper than 180+shipping. I've read and heard about the lines that Falkore mentioned of 30-40 bucks, but can't find nuttin!
I think i'm going to go with the GReddy SP2, no headers, no chip, and a CAI or SRI(if i can find one at a decent price).
I also wanna do that gauge mod i saw in the DIY section, and maybe some kind of lighting mod inside... Also had the idea of getting some new speakers and a new head unit; but that's more research since i know nothing about car audio.
thanks again for all the help.. now to do more research for stuff like idle settings and what not...

I see you are from Dallas, TX. You may not want to go with the pulleys because they will slow the rate your A/C compressor pulley spins causing a decrease in AC performance (i.e. your A/C will not get as cold as it used to.) I know A/C down here in the south is more important to me than 1 or 2 extra hp!
GReddy SP2 FTW!!1! you have made a good choice klrspz, an SP2 and CAI is what i have and i love the set up. the only reason i would get a header would be because if i gota custom high flow cat, then it would be useless w/ my stock header. btw, you have ONE header, not headers. only the V6s have headers, just FYI.
I meant i'm not getting any of the headerS i've found.. not that i need multiple headers
Anywho, i've been talking with Velocifero and he's really scaring me about the CAI setup in terms of getting it wet or dirty real quick/badly.
Would you have any pics of your CAI setup handy? I've been looking around, and I can't tell the diff between in installed SRI and a CAI.
Velocifero's pic looks rather large to be an SRI like he says it is.
So that leads me to my last question..
Can anyone speak to the CAI I posted in the original topic... If I am to go with a CAI type intake, i want to make sure it's decent... it looks really comparable to what i've seen (and specifically to Verlocifero's pic afaik - just rotated the other way [aka laying upside down]) so much so that I can't really justify paying an extra $90 for an SRI when the CAI is just so damn cheap.
Purty purty please help meh!

If you're looking for performance then a header, intake, exhaust, and pullies would really be beneficial for you since you have a 4 banger; Meanging you have a k series engine. Those engines are responsive to mods and so you will see an increase in power. At most you'll see around close to 20-25whp increase and 30whp is pushing it. Get it tuned right and maybe you'll see 30whp.
With a cai, you dont have to worry about water being sucked into your engine unless you get a bypass which aem sells. This reduces your chance of messing up your engine.
With a sri, you'll see more low end torque, whereas the cai, you see more hp but less low end torque.
The cai is longer than the sri. The end of the cai with the air filter connects to runs all the way done to your bumper, thus allowing cold air to be sucked in. The sri is shorter and is located near the engine and sucks up hot air and sometimes cold air when you drive. There is another name for the sri which was something along the lines of hot air intake.

about the header, i was just making sure you knew that little fact and i wasnt clear if you knew or not.
the original intake you were looking at is fine as long as you get a name brand filter for it. as for damaging ur engine with a CAI, it really depends where you live...if you live where it rains alot and ur constantly driving around in puddles, then your gonna want an SRI. but if you live somewhere where it only rains moderately but not too much, then an SRI or CAI w/ bypass vavle would work. if you live somewhere where it is dominately dry, then a CAI or SRI is fine. btw, a bypass valve i have heard lessens the performance of the intake. also, i can probably get a pic up of my intake (we have the same engine) by the weekend.

Didn't look to see where you live. 00Accord is right .... for Texas, don't underdrive the crank, but if they have the lightened, stock size pulley, that might be an idea.
The other name for SRI I've only seen once ..... WAI (warm air intake). I haven't done the research for the K24 motor, but for the K20, I DON'T recommend headers or exhaust. Multiple tests have shown losses. For the K20, it seems that the best upgrade after SRI is the Hondata reflash. Might be worth looking into.

A cold air intake has the filter down by the wheel (you will not be able to see the filterwith the car'shood popped.) YouMUST remove the resonator box (normally you have to remove the bumper to do this)to install a CAI.Thatis an SRI in velocifero's pic.I have an ebay SRI that is the same size & shape.
Here's an SRI for you.

there are tons out there. Search for "accord intake 4" on ebay.

Not a snowball's chance in hell. Maybe...MAYBE you will get 10whp with intake, header, & exhaust..
