P0420 Codes Catalytic Conveter Replacement
Hi all!
I have a 2003 Honda Accord V6 3.0. I have a P0420 Code and I was told it was my Catalytic converter in bank 1. Well I went to O'reily's and got this,
oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/MGF0/49683/02404.oap?year=2003&make=Honda&model=Accord&vi=141 5630&ck=Search_catalytic+converter_1415630_508&key word=catalytic+converter
The packaging slip states that it is directly for the P0420 code. I got it at cost and was going to have a muffler shop put it on, once I brought it in, the man told me that there are actually 3 converters, that the rear one (the one I bought) will not fix the issue, that it's actually a manifold type converter at the bottom of the engine, I found some pictures from another user to show the schematic of the engine. My question is... is he right? That the catalytic converter that I bought will not work? How does he know, and do specific converters throw specific codes, besides bank1 bank2 P0430 or P0420. I need to get this fixed ASAP and was hoping that I will not have to reorder another converter.
Thanks!
