Default question about short ram

Actually asking this for the sake of my wife's civic, but figured you guys might be able to answer. Is there a specific length that a short ram will need to be to make the most difference, or can I just buy like a six inch long intake tube from advance and hook a good filter to it?

I made one from a Toyota CAI that I cut up, it worked better than stock without question. Is there an optimum length, diameter, etc.? I'm certain there is but a homemade setup also works well.

Give it a try. May loose a bit of lowend, but you can always change the top power point by changing the length of the tubing. Tell us how it goes!

six inches is not enough......i but a stock bomz civic intake on my brothers 92 lx. and it was the perfect length right out of the box. and seriously for 30 bucks you need to get it. the intake note at 1500 rpm is ten times louder and deeper than the shorty on my accord. the word damn doesnt even describe it. there was so much more power i couldnt believe honda didnt put one on from the factory. i spun the clutch on the first day it just couldnt hold it. i was just loafing in third with the clutch completely engaged at about 1500 rpm and then i just dumped the gas and it started slipping i couldnt believe the torque. as much as i have tried to tune the intake on my accord i have never even come close to those results.
