Gentlemen. Realize that this is for a 20 year old car with a quarter million miles. I agree that a full cat-back would be out of the question, not to mention non-existant. If this car also needs a new B-pipe, I'm assuming that the stock is 2", you can upgrade it to a single pipe 2" or a 2.25" .... larger would hurt performance. For a muffler, I'd recommend a DynoMax super-turbo muffler. It is mainly the same as an OEM type except that it has baffles in it that direct the air into the U-turn patterns rather than it just slamming into the ends of the muffler chambers. I had one on my Z24 and I installed it with a muffler clamp in my driveway in college. It's not hard if the original muffler is set up this way ..... or if you're handy with a hacksaw.

pros:
gain hp

cons:
illegal
destroys eviorment

I saw a dyno test where the tested stock cat vs high flow cat vs no cat and no cat only made 1hp over high flow cat(I believe another member may have posted it) so its not really worth it.

The exhaust would get a little louder and deeper without a cat ..... It gets stinkier too and anyone that knows what it smells like will know immediately that you have no cat.

No, it wouldn't be that loud with an OEM muffler .... wouldn't be that loud with a full cat-back either, unless that has a really loud muffler. The cat's job isn't to quiet the exhaust, just to clean it a bit. The restriction and small straight channels reduce a little noise due to it's shape, but noise is the muffler and resonator's job.
