Welding Header flanges
I am just wondering if you can weld header flanges so you wont have to deal with gaskets and leaks?
I am either going to put my stock manifold back on tomorrowor have Midas weld my flanges where my header meets together assuming they do this. I think it would be cheaper then having them install + remove the header. $40ish maybe? I just dont know what I would do if the header/manifold gasket were to get blown?

RE: Welding Header flanges
Don't weld anything to your engine!!! My headers have never leaked nor required re-torquing of the bolts. If there's a problem in the future, or if your welder doesn't do a good job, you're looking at a leak that will NEVER be fixed.

I think he's talking about welding the headers together. Not the headers to the engine. However, I'm not certain which part of them you're talking about.... As for welding them to the motor that wouldn't work.

RE: Welding Header flanges
Sorry for not being thorough enough. I planned on welding the two pieces of the header together...and if I needed them off I would cut them off and trash em. Anyways, $155 later my stock manifold is back on What a rip off
Off to ebay they go

RE: Welding Header flanges
Why? That is the sole reason I am not going to buy a header.... because I have heard people say they lost too much low end torque and couldn't feel any power till high 4k+ RPM's. I rarely ever take my car over 4k RPM's, so I figured I would actually be hurting myself in the power department there.
One guy over onthe 6th gen forumeven said the best mod he ever did to his Accord was removing his header and putting the stock manifold back on!
