If you want it to be fast and have the money, put whatever engine and transmission you want in there. If you are on a limited budget, drop in the same motor and transmission the car was built with.

Basic rule of thumb if you want to build a car which is faster than how it was originally designed; pick two of the following three criteria:
  1. High power
  2. High cost
  3. High reliability

Well I want to make anywhere up from 400 hp. I'm on a budget but not to big lol. And I have nothing but time and I bought it for that reason a project and something I built and made that fast rather then buying one, I'll appreciate the ponies more lol.i just need a foundation to start my build I have a motor don't know what motor it is I know it's a vtec the original motor wasn't vtec. I just want to know where to start with motor and tyranny before I go and put it in nosing I'm gonna need a different motor. Thanks again, and from the three higher power but not to expensive my wife would kill me if I spend anymore then 10 grand to make my dream honda lol

If you're on a budget, then you will have to compromise on one of those two goals.
