2007 EX-L in Canada - Rustproofing
Hello - just picked up my new EX-L last week and joined the forum today.
Had a quick search through some of the groups and could not find an answer to this question.
We have a harsh winter climate here and there is *lots* of road salt used on the streets and highways from about November to April. I declined the dealer rustproofing thinking I could always have a commercial rustproofing treatment done later, but since then I have read conflicting advice on whether this is a good idea or not. (ie. Something about voiding the Honda corrosion/perforation warranty). Some have suggested that the car already comes factory treated and adding an after-market treatment might actually be harmful. Does anyone know where I can get some good Honda-approved information on this?
thx,
Andy
PS. Love the Accord!

RE: 2007 EX-L in Canada - Rustproofing
Read through your warranty booklet. Here in USA the rust-thru warranty is mandated by law, which doesn't apply in Canada. Honda may find it easier to void your warranty up there, & most of us won't understand the details.
Possibly you can make it worse by rustproofing material that blocks drain holes or provides a mechanism for holding moisture. That's a pretty simple view of how corrosion works, but I'm not a corrosion expert...
