Default advice, A Deer Killed My Honda, car totaled , first post

Hello HAF, first post, thanks in advance

formerly a 2001 V6 Accord LX 185,000 miles

I hit a deer on the highway going highway speed. Damage comes out to $2800; parts+paint+labor. The insurance company wants to take the car and give me $2K.

What Would Tyler Durden Do?

found all the parts on carparts.com comes out to 550 and then I would need to paint them and put them on. Shop said 800 for paint

I'm leaning toward taking the money and looking for another car.

Thoughts?

THANK YOU!

This is hard to call.

It really depends on where you are in life,if you know what I mean. At one point in my life I would have kept the car, taken the money. Then do as much or the repair I could and only paid someone for the things I couldn't do.

At another point in life, I'd take the money, let them have the car and look for a bit of a newer one...say a 7th gen Accord (03-07)

Just my two cents........Thanks for joining and good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Welcome to the forum. As noted, tough call, but in general I would look at it as "time to go new (or newer) Honda shopping"!

Welcome to the forum, Biomecaman

I agree with Leftoverture.... take the $2K and use it as a down-payment on a new Accord

Welcome to the forum, sorry about it not being a more happy occasion.

I echo the guys above, take the money; maybe buy another 2001 and keep the car for parts?
