Default First Timer

Hi all. My name is Marc, 19 from Trinidad. I'm a University student and I'm gonna get my first car in a few months. I've had my eyes on these two Accords, a 95 http://www.wevolutions.com/listman/e..._featured.html and 98 http://www.wevolutions.com/listman/e..._featured.html
I'm leaning more towards the 98 right now, I just like the shape more than the 95. I have a few questions reguarding them though....

Would the Accord make a good starter car?
The 150,000km on the 98 is a bit steep. Is it still a good buy? (1US=6.30TT dollars for your conversions)
Is there a large supply of aftermarket/tuner parts for both models?
I'm looking to keep the car for probably a good few years. Which model is known to have defects?(If any?)

I don't knw how I came to Love the Accord so much! I'm a Mitsubishi guy, was only interested in Evos and Lancers.Well, anyway, glad to be hear and can't wait for the Accord!

Welcome to the forum.

Both models have a huge aftermarket support. As far as defects there are nothing major aside of the normal things cars incur through use. But that being said Accords are very sturdy and reliable vehicles, with surprisingly few problems for a car. The 98 might have a slightly greater chance of finding replacement parts though because it's newer, but otherwise I would say go for the one you like most. In the end it's how much you liek your car that's important, and if you like your car, you'll find a way to get the parts you need.

Hello HesHere2001 :
Welcome to the HAF and Thank you for joining up with us.
I would have to give my choice to the 98" because of the many more options to purchase for your car...

Im partial to the 94-97 body style. But thats just me. 114,000 km is really low. My 94 has two and a half times that much mileage lol. Really it comes down to which car you like better.

Thanks guys. I had my heart set on the newer body style, the 98. I wanted to spruce it up a bit and was wondering if changing the Headers and CAT Exhaust system would be easy to do for a newbie. I can't decide between 4-2-1 or 4-1.

Headers and catback exhaust are some of the easiest upgrades, along with a cold air or short ram intake. as between 4-2-1 and 4-1, the 4-2-1 is generally easier to install, and will maintain stock ground clearances whil 4-1 give slightly better performance gains over 4-2-1, but you can lose some ground clearance and are a bit more difficult to install.
