Fuel Pump Replacement
Recently had the fuel pump replaced on a recall on my 2018 Accord Touring 1.5. Immediately after the car was picked up from the dealer the car became hard to start. It starts on first push of the button when cold but after driving it for a while it takes about 10 seconds to kick in, and it labours to start.
So it’s intermittent and there are no warning lights so the dealer says they can’t help me because no lights are on which means they can’t diagnose the issue.
The dealer also said it was probably the battery so we replaced it and it’s made no difference. Yesterday I was out and about and thought the car wasn’t going to start in a shopping centre parking lot. The dealer hasn’t checked the fuel pump installation and seems hesitant to do that? Everything was fine until this fuel pump was replaced. I just don’t know what to do.

Turns over immediately after the car sits overnight. It’s when it’s driven around, parked for a bit, driven again, that it is slow to turn over. Car has tons of pick up and doesn’t hesitate. Just this laboured turn over thing after it’s been driven for a while.
Yes, new battery.Going to the Honda Dealer this week and they finally believe there is an issue after I stopped by and asked the service Mgr to go out and start the car. He did, and it laboured. So they have asked me to make sure the tank is almost empty to check the newly replaced fuel pump they just installed. They keep saying they can’t truly pinpoint the issue unless the a warning light goes on. Just view me as a gal who doesn’t know anything I guess. I will tell them to check the starter. Bumper to bumper extended warranty on the car.

I have the same warm start issue with my 2L Accord Sport after the recall fuel pump replacement. Replaced the battery as well as it was the original batt, dealer replaced the fuel pump again as it had a kinked gasket, but that didn't resolve the issue... My car started perfectly fine prior to changing the fuel pump!
After all of that it turned out the O Ring was pinched when they installed the new fuel pump. Exactly what I told them might be wrong immediately after they installed it, but they didn’t believe me. So I replaced the battery at the recommendation of the dealership - for no reason. Oh well.
Replacing the first new fuel pump that had a bad gasket didn't resolve my warm start problem... I question the service advisor why a fuel filter with bad gasket would only affect the car when hot - got no answer. Getting worried that Honda won't find the issue?
While accelerating my car up hill roughly 65mph it began to shutter and bog down to 35mph and All the fun Christmas lights turned on the dash including the CEL. The sudden change of speed almost caused me to get hit by a semi since it was so abrupt. I was able to pull over to the shoulder and shut the car off.. After trying to start it again to see if it could possibly be a fluke, the engine struggled to start but eventually turned over. I immediately scanned the codes and found P0299 and P0087 codes. Knowing that I knew there was no way I’m driving it home (roughly still 30 miles away) Got it towed and had it sit in the drive way for a week. Through the week I researched and read multiple forums about similar occurrences and of all places I found a YouTube video of what caused the P0087 System pressure to low code. The mechanic in the video suggested replacing the mechanical fuel pump that’s located in the engine compartment (high pressure pump/direct injection pump) Got one off of eBay and slapped it in there in 40 mins. And what do you know that simple and relatively cheap part $100 fixed that issue immediately. Vehicle turned over with no issue and the code went away. In case you guys continue having the issue with start up l, look and see if the mechanical fuel pump is working properly.
