Great to be here
Hello fellow Accord members. Absolutely lovely to be able to join the forum. We have a 1988 Honda Accord LX which we bought back in December 2004 when our 1989 Honda Legend got stolen and crashed. It was a car to fill the gap while we got the Legend fixed. Like a typical Honda it has to be fixed about once a month but it is a great runabout car. I will say however it was not the best car to drive on long distance trips, the back seat is not big enough although suprsingly the little 2.0 four cylinder somehow managed to pull four people and a boot and a half full of luggage reasonably well.
Since then we got the Legend back and the Accord went on Standby. Then my Dad got a job about 10Km's from our house. So to date he is using the car to commute to work and back. It is so fuel economical. Sorry to let you guys know it is the car that never gets washed or vacuumed. It is sort of the 'poor' car that nobody wants to drive. lol. I did however wash it last weekend and vacuum it.
I drive a 1989 Honda Legend (I am an enthusiast) and I talked my Mum into buying a 1991 Legend. So everybody is happy now.
Two other cars I own is a 1958 Standard 10 and a 1972 Ford Cortina. I am restoring the Standard 10 and the Cortina I drove around for my first car for a while.
1958 Standard Super 10
1972 Ford Cortina
I will get a picture of the Accord sometime this week perhaps.
Anyway that is a bit about me. Thanks for reading.
Regards,
Steve

RE: Great to be here
Welcome to the forums! The 88 accord is a great little car. Shouldn't need to be fixed every month though. Probably just needs a good tune up and oil change. The 2.0 is a strong little engine. Give that car some TLC, and everyone will want to drive it! Legends are pretty nifty too. I think the v6 in the legend ended up going in the accords when they started getting v6's in the 94-97 generation.
I still prefer my little four banger though. It's one mean little engine in the right hands!

RE: Great to be here
I can dig it.... the old cars rock... my GF still just looks at me and shakes her head when I'm like "I'm taking out the station wagon!!" and jump in my 81 civic station wagon and tear off and Leave my 94 Accord LX with the sunroof/leather/power stuff/stereo just sitting there smiling.... I call her ROHonda (Really Old Honda) and I'll be damned if the origonal owners grand daughter didn't see me at a gas station about 3 months ago and tell me that if I EVER wished to sell it to call her right away, gave me her phone number and asked to buy it.... Car enthusiests(sp) welcome!

Boot = trunk
We always seemed to fit more luggage than the space of the trunk.
It is a good little car but it runs like poo at the moment. It doesn't idle properly and it has a huge flat spot.
There is nothing quite like old cars. Some people can't understand why anyone would want to own an old car, but they obviously just don't get it.

RE: Great to be here
It was not a particularly fantastic drive just that it was my first car. That said I would like to drive one today but they were very prone to body rot and with bad weather and salted roads here old cars do not last unless they are looked after.
