Default hey everyone! newbie hond owner here

hey whats up all,

i recently purchased a 97 lx 5 speed, and i have to say its a nice little car!

ive always been a vdub fan, the whole works. modding, meets, etc...
but i decided to try out a honda, figured it would be a nice change.

anyway, i am mechanically inclined, had to learn as all the shops around here have no idea what there doing, and ruined my car(s) in the past!
i also have a full 5th gen service manual in pdf format!

so yea the lx needs "some" or more work done to it, dont really know as i sprained my ankle the day i bought it.
i looked under the hood when i went to see it and to my surprise the fans dont work at all even with a/c on Which also doesnt work, its not bad motors as the previous owner jerryrigged a speaker wire from the power window fuse to the rad fan so it runs while the key is in, and i think it might be eating coolant, but i cannot see any signs of a bad head gasket as of yet!!! although i did fill it cold (radiator and overflow), and then drove it to let it circulate, over flow dropped about an inch.
if anyone wants to chime in on that, or would like me to share my 5th gen service manual give me a buzz in my email.

anyway: car drives great, no big issues that i can tell yet besides a few dash lights out, and i get the p0174 code, but im guessing at the moment that its the aftermarket air intake causing it, its way to short with a very cheap filter, im going to replace it to ensure it wont suck water in heavy rain.

well thank you
J
