I picked up a 96 one owner accord for our son. We needed just good solid basic transportation for him to learn on. It came with all the maintenance records since new. It has sat for the last 2 years and the lady who owned it decided it was time to get it out of her garage. I need to redo the brakes and fix an exhaust leak. Then his adventures begin.

You've made a wise choice for your son.

Because the vehicle has sat for (as you stated) 2 years, you may want to consider having the fluids changed and the belts, seals & hoses inspected and/or replaced

 

I have ordered out new brake booster and master cylinder as well as caliper rebuild kits. I used my power bleeder and think it was just too much for the old system now it has no braking action the pedal goes right to the floor and will not pump up.

 

The booster should be fine. Pull the master and just be sure there is not a "lot" of fluid inside the booster. If not I would leave it alone - rare they go bad unless brake fluid leaks into it and ruins the diaphragm.

So me, I'd do the brake master and bleed it out and see what you have from there. Yes, if there are leaks from any other points they need to be addressed.

What trim level is the 96? BTW, I think the 5th gen Accords (94-97) were some of the best built and will last a long time with just the regular maintenance items checked/replaced when needed.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with the brake job. I second the idea of checking all the fluids, hoses, and belts. But my guess is that Accord will run reliably for a long time to come.
