Default Hi there

hi there,
Just bought an X reg accord in silver yesterday... its the 5 door hatchback..
I dont know any info on the car, SOHC or DOHC ..

I'll need loads of help guys as this is my 1st honda, but 4th Jap car...
had a mazda3, impreza sport, impreza wrx, then this one...

after driving imprezas for over a year, its hard to drive a fwd without wheelspinning it when taking off... i'll get used to it slowly..

Its a vtec 2L se... got cruise control.. and the radio was saying CODE. took it off and i put a new one in today. anyone got any info on whether its the dohc or sohc??

also its on 80000 miles and the dealer told me he has done the service.. when does the cambelt need to be changed?? I've seen the oil a bit thick this morning, i will need to change it tomorrow.
also what bhp / torque its got??
What oil is best / recommended??
cheers

Well in order to get info on the car it would help if you told us what year it was. I would take a shot in the dark and say SOHC, but you should just be able to pop the hood and tell.

Timing belt is recommended to be changed around 80,000miles.

Welcome!

We don't know much about the car either. You didn't say what year. Not even what part of the world? Here in USA we don't get any 5-door hatchback Accords.

SOHC or DOHC should be labeled on top of the valve cover.

For many models & years, the interval for replacing the timing belt is about 100,000 miles.

It ranges from US$400 to $800 around the US, using OEM parts. Parts alone are around US$200.

It's NOT just a USA forum, you are welcome to stick around. There's a bunch of UK guys around here already. Just be aware that the car is different across the pond, and the available engines are very different from one country to another.

There are many Honda forums, even generation-specific ones, but I have yet to stumble across a forum that is EDM-only.

Your cruise control issue should be a new thread in the general help section, but does your speedometer act weird? A lot of times that can simple be fixed by unplugging the speed sensor, cleaning the contacts, and plugging it back in firmly.
