Honda accord 2019 ECU not working
Hi, new member here seeking for advice. So I recently bought a 2019 honda accord sport that got water damage, I need to change the ECU and the body control module, will I have any problem using the original car key if I change the ECU?
Not certain for 2019, but I'm pretty sure you WILL have a problem. The immobilizer is in the ECU, and a new ECU will be looking for the RFID chip from the keys that belong to that donor car. The RFID antenna is like a ring around the place where you put the key into the ignition switch.
Some locksmiths can deal with that, otherwise the dealer will have to make it work.
Temporary work-around is to have the key that belongs to the new ECU & tape it together with the key that belongs to your car. That should allow you to start the car & drive to the locksmith.
