Default Honda maniac with a problem saying hello from Argentina

First of all I d like to say hello to everyone and thank you very much for reading my post.

I live in argentina and I own a 98 accord coupe V6. Recently I had experienced the following problem. Sometimes my d4 light would not come on while all the others will and do turn off after the proper time. When that happens I try to start the engine and it would crank but would not start. This can happen while I am driving or recently when the car is left parked under the sunlight for a couple of hours.

I thought it was the barttery because when that happened the negative borne showed a little white dust (do not know how to say that in inglish but in spanish is "sulfatado"), so I replaced the car battery but issues continues.

I do have the shop manuals for the car, with its v6 engine and coupe type supplements.

Has anyone expirenced a problem like this before? Should I consider getting a OBDII DTC reader in ebay? if so, could someone tell me which one would be the best for this job?

Thank you very much, merry christmas and a happy new year to all of you.

Roy (Rodrigo)

Welcome to HAF.

A code reader might help, at some point you might need it for something else anyway.

"Kind of" sounds like the main relay might be going. When it does this, turn the key to on/pos II and listen for the fuel pump to prime. They are kind of hard to hear so you will need to turn off everything that makes noise (radio, blower motor, ect).
