I'm happy to say that I'm a proud Honda owner of my new "used" 2002 Accord EX. This would be the 4th Honda Accord that i've owned. Although I am doubting this exact model.

I've been doing alot of reading and some people are saying that there are transmission problems on these V6 models. The problem cause it was assembled in the U.S. My Carfax is clean on this vehicle and there are no recalls for this Honda. I have yet to check with the local Honda dealership or call America Honda for verification.

How many owners have this model engine and has had transmission problems? I'm guessing it's a hit and miss thing.

there was an extended warranty on that tranny.

 

I would hope so.. i haven't experienced or noticed any problems yet but I would like to reassurance. I'll have to stop by a Honda shop to verify this. The good news is I either have 2 more years or I have 30K left on the tranny before the extended warranty runs out.

I'll have to check with the Honda shop. I'm sure there are and if none has been serviced.. i wonder if they will warrant it.

 

check the recalls and TSB links at the top of the page. Print out any that apply to your car and have them all checked individually by Honda to see that everything that should have been done to your car has in fact been done. Also remember that even if they have done a recall, the new part can have the same problem and they will be responsible to fix it again if need be.

yeah they have a recall. i believe it to be for 98-01 for 7 years or 100,000 miles which ever comes first......

 

I just called the local Honda dealer/repair and they verified the VIN, saying that the car is not on the list. I'm happy to know that it's not on the to be damaged list, however, I do hope that I don't have to deal with this in the future.
