Kinda new here ......
Alright, so I've been here for 2 months and 10 days, but I've never properly introduced myself. My name is Aaron Bier. I live in northern NJ and commute to NYC every day where I design heating, cooling and ventillation systems for the expansion of the Jacob Javits Convention Center (where the New York Auto show is). I also have my own company that I use to take on engineering projects of my own as well as for side work detailing cars. I qam a mechanical engineer with a bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech. I attended before, during and after Michael Vick and can honestly say that the parties were better before he got there (the police force doubled when ESPN decided to make Blacksburg a second home). I am good friends with a survivor of the shooting there and had studied under Dr. Librescu (the halocaust surviving professor that got killed). I have advanced studies in combustion, internal engines, fan/pump/compressor properties and design, machine design and industrial processes. I have done precision machining and acted as chief machinist for my Sr. college design project which was to design a control system to actively attenuate resonance in the combustor of the joint strike fighter engine. I had also been on hybrid vehicle and baja teams.
Since I finished school, I'm on my 3rd job in NYC. During my first job, I re-learned 2D AutoCAD to produce contract documents (blueprints) and the basics of HVAC within my first 3 months, after 6 months I started managing projects and by the time I left, I was 25 and was managing about a third of the company's projects and all of the in-house labor. At that job, I was very close to a nervous break-down on 3 separate occasions and had been diagnosed by a neurologist as having the stress patterns of a 40 year old man ..... time for a change. My last job was at a much larger firm doing more of the same quick, no-creativity design, but my pay went up and my responsibility went way down ....... good for 2 years, but then I started to yearn for some satisfaction out of my work. That and a few smaller issues caused me to look and find my current position. Here, I am responsible for some extremely expensive equipment and design. Since it's only 1 project, the pace is much slower, but every answer that I give has to be checked 3 or more times by me because I can't give a wrong answer ..... it would snowball and cause too many problems ..... a new and different kind of stress.
My car is a 2000 Accord V6 sedan with an automatic transmission. I will re-post my list of mods since it's too long for the signature.
