I just bought a 1997 Accord EX with 177,000 miles with 90,000 on the auto transmission. 2.2 4 cylinder. Is there anything that I should know about this car in general?

 

Some of the more common problems are slow windows and odometers breaking. Because of the silly rotor over hub design its difficult to repair the brakes yourself.

If you have no record of when the timing belt was last changed I would recommend getting on that.

 

In other words ...pull a good maint on the car and go over everything you can check yourself...then the other stuff...take it to a private shop..
