Default New to Hondas

Hello all!

Just entered the Honda world, having picked up a 96 Accord EX. I come from a family of backyard mechanics, which can be good and bad. For the last 5 years or so, I've been fiddling around with aircooled VWs, mostly late 60s and early 70s. But, growing family means I needed to move a coiple of the VWs out and a 4-door in. My new old Honda was purchased from a friend who always kept it mechanically in shape. It's got its issues, but good enough to scoot around in.

Its a great car! Plenty of options for modifications too! Plus, since you have the EX model, you get 15 more hp than the LX and DX versions....lucky! Anyways, welcome!

Thanks! It's just a dd for now, while I finish up my other project. In the mean time, I hope to pick up knowledge from the crowd here and impart some of my own when I can.

Glad to hear it. I was afraid after Samba, I would be spoiled.

My other project is a '68 Karmann Ghia convertible. She has roughly 800 man hours into her so far and she's waiting for paint at the moment. The first attempt went poorly, with the paint just not wanting to go down smoothly. It's been too cool and humid to attempt again since, but we may have another go in the next week or two since it should be in the 80s.

For the moment, it will be the stock 1500cc that she came with, but with cooling tins painted to match the body.. I have a 1776cc motor with dual carbs, counter weighted crank, lightened flywheel, deep sump, and other goodies that I need to finish going through before putting in.
