Default New member - Acura rl vs ex-l

Hi guys,

I'm a new member from NJ. I have an 05 Acura RL with 94k miles on it and am thinking about moving to the EX-L 4 cyl. The RL is an amazing car, but thought the EX might be interesting. Obviously, power will not be comparable, but I'm more interested in overall performance and ride quality. The RL has a lot of great technology and is very comfortable, plus it's AWD. I don't need a v6 or nav.

Will I be disappointed?

I'm not a stranger to Honda having owned a prelude and my wife had a crx in the late 80s, both were great cars.

Welcome to HAF

Not sure of the answer here......I would suggest a test drive of the Accord would be the first step.

Yeah, was going to do that. Seems like it might be an interesting trade.

I don't know if you have purchased yet, but here are my thoughts. I drove both the 4cl and V6 before I bought my 2013. The CVT was just too much for me and the 4 was not up to the task. I was coming from a Jetta GLI and the turbo performance has me spoiled I bought the V6 EXL and have been completely satisfied so far. It has performance equal to the turbo and does it on regular gas. Mileage has averaged 27 over nearly 8,000 miles of combined highway and city driving. Top so far has been 36 on the highway. Worse just slightly under 24 in very cold weather commuting around Atlanta. The car feels smaller than it really is and is comfortable on the highway. No real problems with the exception of the poorly designed wipers. They have been replaced with Bosh. This is a long term car so I will post my updates as they come.
