New Member: So Cal :D
Hi,
I'm a new member here. I joined to find great info on accords since my mom drives a 2001 Accord and I wanted to help her with maint, etc because in my honest opinion, the shop she goes to never gets everything done, they only like fix one problem and never check for others so 1 month later, you're coming back to them for another thing fixed. I just wanna learn as much as possible and try to do the little things on my own to save my family $$, and if there ARE major problems, I can at least address everything to the mechanics who do a **** poor job of doing everything. My Father is planning to take over the '01 soon and I just wanted to partake in the upkeep of such a reliable car and I want to keep it reliable. They're looking to upgrade to a 2008+ Honda Accord. I haven't checked the reviews on that gen yet.

Welcome!
General Tech is where the real questions belong, especially when they get specific.
Is it 4-cyl or V-6? Manual or auto trans? (makes a lot of difference)
2001 is in the middle of a run of automatic transmissions that were a bit -umm- "delicate". Don't abuse it. Keep the fluid clean. Drain&fill, don't have it "power-flushed.

but the car is a 2001 Accord LX V6 Sedan Automatic Trans fully loaded except navigation, about 210K miles now (almost all highway) and yea I know about the "delicate" auto trans lol. The car's on its 2nd trans, its been about 10K miles or so on the new one.
Thank you for the advice for maintaining the trans fluid. I don't think my mom or the mechanics she went to did that at all, but hey the OEM Trans is pretty weak lol it was just time for it.
