While we have had Hondas on and off since 1984, we're back in the fold now with a new 2020 Honda Accord EX Hybrid. We've had it a month, and are approaching 1000 miles, and nearly as many smiles. Other than a bit of an electronic glitch (puts up safety oriented messages). It's been in the shop twice (replaced battery, then rebooted electronics), and they say the third time's the charm.
Otherwise, it's (nicknamed the RoadRunner) met and exceeded our expectations. Our previous Hondas were, a 1984 Civic, and a 1994 Honda Si, at the smaller end of the size continuum and capable of 35, and 30 mpg, respectively. The Roadrunner on it's maiden voyage on the Interstate between Tucson and Phoenix, running with a fast crowd and doing 75 (+ or -5 in 75 mph zone) or 65 (+ or - 5) on Cruise Control as much as possible, got 38 mpg. In subsequent tankfuls, it's been in the high and low 40s, not passing a lot of people but not slowing many down. Performance has been a surprise (we didn't buy it to out drag anybody), as it has the performance necessary to maneuver in Interstate traffic, climbs grades without drama. And the handling has been the best surprise, with excellent turn-in and flat cornering for a vehicle it's size.
We had hoped for a silver one, but the 2020 holdover in Champagne Metallic Pearl (fancy sand hue) that has grown on us (and even looks like the silver one in some lighting!).
Our last new car was a 2010 Subaru Forester, which had none of the electronics of the "RoadRunner", so we're still sorting out all that the Accord can do!
