Default Miles per gallon?

Factoring both highway & city driving, what should one expect as an average over-all mpg for a late model 2.4L Accord?
No 'jack rabbit' starts or racing... normal driving habits.
With and/or without Econ

I was recently told that using the Econ full-time can result in an extra 10 miles of travel per tank of gas. Any thoughts/comments appreciated

Thank you

My wife drove (we just traded) a 2006 TSX w/ 2.4L Ivtec engine and managed 25 for city driving and 30-32 for highway. Computer avg mpg will show as high as 36 mpg per tank, but when checked against consumption was typically 5-10% too high.

I would expect an Accord w/ same engine would be simlar, perhaps a bit lower as TSX may weigh slightly less.

PS: We traded for 2010 TSX. We loved the 06 TSX and traded to daughter who needed a car after a traffic accident totaled her Subaru Outback.

good luck

Thanks, Texas

We made a 385 mile road trip 2 weeks ago, 4 adults, 80-90 mph + AC, mostly Interstate (and 70 miles of twists&turns two lane) and got 26.7 mpg total with the Econ on. Didn't think that was too bad

Best mileage speed seems to be about 60 mph, and mpg drops above that speed.

Elevation changes (hills) makes a big difference as frquent climbs really kill mpg.

good luck

I hear ya, Poorman

When I was shopping for this Accord, the salesman tried to sell me a Pilot, I really liked the vehicle and the bottom line was a good deal, however I knew that the mpg was not going to fit into my lifestyle

Yea, for the first bit I b**@#" about the MPG's in the Pilot....coming from a 3rd gen (32 MPG mixed driving) and a 5th gen (25 mixed driving).

She drives in "mixed driving" = 17.x MPG. Me, I get 20.x. Where it shines and it's job....the road king. The wife and I, two older kids - not anymore but in the day, two dogs and all of the gear to go with that . Everyone has room, gear (Christmas is tight) fit without issues....hit the road for a 700 mile trip, lets ride . Comfort, room and if I need it, there is a bit of pep from the poor old 3.5.

Hence, why a newer one is on my list - that is a thread all on it's own....a low mile '14 TL-SH AWD, a new TLX AWD, a newer ('13 to 15) Pilot or my last distraction. A new Accord and take the difference and put some of the "leftover" into the Chevelle.

Sounds like a plan
Yes, I can see how the Pilot would be a great highway vehicle. For some of the same reasons, I miss my Magnum... that car loved the open road, had the weight and comfort.. plus all-wheel-drive, but the gas mileage was no where near what I'm getting with this Accord

It's ok, Poorman... does not seem to be off-topic at all.. still discussing fuel mileage.
Thanks for responding
