Welcome to HAF.

The 5th gen Accords (94-97) are a solid platform. If the maint items are taken care they are nothing but a solid workhorse.

Before getting in swaps. Take care of the other stuff. If you can't/don't have documents that something has been done and when, assume it has not.

Tune up stuff
Check brakes and brake fluid
Check the suspension system
Other fluids - PS and only use Acura/Honda approved fluid.
Trans fluid (auto or manual ?) - Either way, it needs to be changed. If an Auto trans - ONLY use Honda trans fluid

That should give you a solid base and reliable ride while you think, research, plan, re-think and re-plan what you want to do with the motor. H swaps are done all the time, many over look the potential in a turbo on the stock F22 motor - that you already have . Some are going with the new F23 as a swap.

Anyway, good luck. If you get stuck in the research or have a question during the research, let us know and we'll see what we can do.

Thanks for joining.

Thanks Guys. I have already put a new clutch in it. Did the breaks. Next is a new head. It blows smoke. I have looked at the H22a Swap. Just wasn't sure. Have been reading everyone's opinions. Seems it is the bread and butter swap. I would like to do something.....well extreme. lol

Thanks again for the great advice and warm welcome.

Well, one thing I did leave out but you can do that when you have the head checked out. The Timing belt, balance shaft and water pump need to be replaced every ~100K or seven years......while there, check the seals (crank, cam, balance shaft, op o-ring) and if any show signs of leaking....replace them. The balance shaft seal should have a retainer installed on it. If not, be sure to get one and install it.

Thanks for the advice. I will for sure do all of those things as well.

If I turbo my motor, should I replaces any other parts? I have been doing research after you (poorman212) said that. Some people say replace the cam shaft, piston, build the head up to Handel the extra power. What is your take?

A stock f22(pending it doesn't have 400,000 miles on it) can handle 8psi or so of boost pretty well.

You will want to upgrade your fuel system and engine management to handle the turbo, but the engine itself will be good for low boost.
