Default Soon to be Honda Owner

Hello everyone!
I currently own an 08 mazda 3 sedan. I am planning on purchasing an 2003 - 2005 honda accord coupe, 3.0L V6 this coming june. Im looking at getting a high milage accord, something with around 150 K KM'S. Any opinions would be great. I know these accords can withstand high milage as they are great cars. Back in 03, i purchased a 1992 Accord with 3 km's on it from Transport Canada. They had it sitting in their underground garage for over 10 years un touched.

But any opinions on a high milage 04 accord would be much appreciated. anything i should look out for or be prepared to replace as soon as i get the car.

Thanks!

I just bought a 2004 Accord, but it is relatively low mileage so I can't tell you how it will fare later in its life. I did remember reading about some transmission issues between 75,000 and 100,000 miles. I also checked the consumer reports guide and noticed that as it ages it develops some electrical problems, specifically with the screen from the audio system fading out until it is unusable.

The problem transmissions are automatics. Honda manual trannys are good.

Im trying to search for it but ive yet to find anything related. Can anyone point me in the right direction so i can read up on it? Is it a major issue or is it something i could get by with an easy fix etc.

Thanks for the help in advance.

It is definitely something to keep in mind, but remember that tens if not hundreds of thousands of accords were sold in 2003/4 and a few hundred failures is not a huge percentage. It sucks if it happens to you, but statistically speaking you are probably more likely to damage your engine in an accident then by any mechanical failure because of Honda.

Yea thats a great point i was also thinking the same thing. Its either the accord or a mazda rx8, but im sure the Rx8 will have more extensive problems then the accord will ever have.

Other than the tranny problem, these cars can rack up pretty high milage with no major repairs right?

I think that would be an understatement
These cars are known to go hundreds of thousands of miles with basic maintenance and care.
