Is it time to trade in my Accord?
I have a 2007 Honda Accord LX with 140,000 miles on it. I'm trying to decide if I should bite the bullet and purchase a new one, or a Civic, or just keep it for a couple more years.
The details: I've replaced the timing belt and catalytic converter this year already. I've spent about $2500 in repairs/maintenance already. So is all the pricey maintenance behind me now for a while?
I recently got in a wreck and the body shop is currently replacing the front bumper, impact bumper (or whatever it's called) and doing some minor hood work (the airbag also needed to be replaced). So once I get it back, it'll look great.
What do you guys think? Basically, what are the chances that I have to spend another $2000 or so in the coming year on maintenance/repair?

I'd say the chances are pretty low. I wouldn't even consider selling a 2007 yet. Heck the newest car I own is a 2001 and I just bought a 1993. But with any car its always a gamble because you never know what is going to break without a warranty.
But it seems like you have taken care of most of the expensive maintenance items.

It's really a personal decision- do you want a new car? I have an 03 with over 162k on the odometer and over the past year, I spent a good amount of money refreshing it- maintenance and repairing a few items before they became big-ticket repair bills. I'd drive this car to California tomorrow if I needed to.
If you are happy with your car, then keeping it, even with normal repairs and maintenance, will usually be cheaper than new car payments. On the other hands if you are jonesing for a new ride, then maybe it's time to take the plunge?

Thanks for the replies. I got the car back from the collision center and I think I'm going to trade it in. I only get 20 mpg in it, so upgrading to a new car with higher mpg will offset cost somewhat since I drive 20k miles a year.
